A Statement: Art historians have pointed out that the "wet-on-wet" (or alla prima)technique actually originated in Flanders during the 15th century (the Flemish Region). The technique was used by Frans Halls, Diego Velazquez, Caravaggio, Paul Cezanne, John Singer Sargent, and Claude Monet, among many others. A technique in which wet paint is applied to previous layers of wet paint started and finished on the same day.

A "Finished" painting is a work of art that has been worked to a particularly high level of detail. There are various levels of "finish," from a basic oil study to a finished painting, also from a basic drawing to a highly "finished "rendered drawing. If you cannot see a clear way to improve the painting, then the painting is done.
